Help & Support
Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours isn’t here, Teqia’s team will help.
For learners
Applying, studying and how your work is marked.
How do I apply to learn with Teqia?
Create an account as a learner, then fill in the application form: what you want to learn, your experience, your laptop and internet access, the hours you can study and why you want to join. An admin reviews it and you will see the decision on your request page, and get an email.
How long does a decision take?
Teqia reviews applications in batches before each cohort starts. Your request page shows the current state, and you will get an email as soon as there is a decision.
Does it cost anything?
No. Teqia’s training is free to students, and Teqia will never ask you to pay for a place. If anyone asks you to pay to be admitted, email Teqia straight away.
I don’t have my own laptop. Can I still apply?
Yes. The application asks about your laptop and internet access so Teqia knows what support you need. It does not disqualify you.
Who sets and marks my work?
Your mentor sets assessments with instructions and a due date, and marks them against four areas: technical knowledge, practical ability, problem solving and communication. You see the score for each area and their written feedback on your assessments page.
What can other learners see about me?
Your first name and last initial, and the stage you are working on if you leave that setting on. Your scores stay between you, your mentor and Teqia staff unless you choose to show them.
For mentors
What mentoring asks of you.
What does mentoring involve?
You take a small group of learners through a programme: setting assessments, marking them within a few days, leaving feedback that says what to do next, and meeting your mentees for live sessions. You choose the programmes you mentor on and the hours you can give.
How much time does it take?
You set your own weekly hours when you join, and you can change them. Most of the time goes on marking and on live sessions with your cohort.
Am I paid?
Mentoring is voluntary. Teqia does not pay for mentoring unless something else is agreed in writing.
For donors
Giving, receipts and where the money goes.
How do I know my donation arrived?
Payments run on Paystack’s own checkout page. Once Paystack confirms, your donation shows as verified with a reference, and Teqia issues a receipt.
Is my card safe?
Teqia never sees or stores your card number or CVV. Paystack handles the card and returns only the brand, last four digits and expiry for a card you chose to save.
Can I choose what my donation funds?
Yes. You pick a programme before you give, and your impact page shows what your donations went towards. If a programme closes, Teqia moves your support to a similar one and tells you.
Can I give every month?
Yes. Choose a monthly donation at the amount step, and you can stop it whenever you want.
