Terms of Service

The rules for using Teqia: what you can expect from Teqia, and what Teqia expects from you.

Last updated 21 September 2026

Draft, pending legal review. This describes how the Teqia platform is being built. A Nigerian lawyer needs to check it, and Teqia needs to settle the points marked to confirm, before it is relied on.

1. What you are agreeing to

These terms are the agreement between you and Teqia Grassroot Foundation for using the Teqia platform. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not, please do not use the platform.

2. Your account

  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep them current.
  • Your account is yours alone. Do not share your password or let someone else use it.
  • Tell Teqia at once if you think someone else has got into your account.
  • You must be old enough for the programme you apply to, or have a parent or guardian’s consent.

Teqia can suspend or close an account that is used to harass people, cheat on assessments, or break these terms.

3. If you are a student

  • Applying does not guarantee a place. Teqia reviews every application and decides.
  • Do the work yourself. Passing off someone else’s work as yours can cost you your place.
  • Teqia’s training is free to you. Teqia never asks a student to pay for a place.
  • Work you submit stays yours. You give Teqia permission to store it and show it to your mentor and staff so it can be marked.

To confirm: what happens to a student’s place after long absence, and the rules for repeating a stage or a cohort.

4. If you are a mentor

  • Mentors volunteer their time. Teqia does not pay for mentoring unless agreed separately in writing.
  • Keep what you learn about your mentees to yourself, and use their work only to teach and mark.
  • Mark honestly and on time, and say so early if you cannot continue.

To confirm: whether mentors sign a separate safeguarding agreement and background check before matching.

5. If you are a donor

  • Donations are voluntary and, once a payment is confirmed, they are not refundable except where the law requires it or Teqia agrees a mistake was made.
  • Card payments are handled by Paystack on its own checkout page. Teqia never sees your card number.
  • Teqia puts your donation towards the programme you chose. If that programme is full or closes, Teqia moves it to a similar one and tells you.
  • Teqia issues a receipt for every confirmed donation.

To confirm: the refund window for an obvious error, and whether donations are tax-deductible in Nigeria.

6. How to behave here

  • Treat other learners, mentors and staff with respect.
  • Do not post anything unlawful, abusive or discriminatory, and do not harass anyone.
  • Do not try to break into, overload or reverse-engineer the platform.
  • Do not use another person’s details, or pretend to be someone you are not.

7. Course materials and your work

Teqia’s course materials belong to Teqia or to whoever licensed them to Teqia. You may use them to learn, but not resell or republish them. What you write and build stays yours, and you keep the right to show it to employers or use it in your portfolio.

8. Availability

Teqia works to keep the platform up, but it is provided as it is. There may be interruptions for maintenance or for reasons outside Teqia’s control, and Teqia does not promise uninterrupted service.

9. Liability

Nothing here removes a liability that cannot lawfully be removed. Beyond that, Teqia is not liable for indirect losses such as lost earnings or lost opportunities arising from use of the platform. To confirm: the liability cap, on legal advice.

10. Governing law and changes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and disputes go to the Nigerian courts.

Teqia may update these terms. The date at the top changes, and for anything significant Teqia will tell you by email before it takes effect.
